Career
Skogmo graduated from Columbia College Chicago's film program in 2005 and moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a researcher and producer on Country Music Television's Country Fried Home Videos, then at First Television, Asylum Entertainment, and Nash Entertainment. The experience of sourcing and clearing viral clips for broadcast television became the thesis for his own company.
In 2009 he co-founded Jukin Media out of his West Hollywood apartment with Aldo Carrascoso and Josh Entman, building it into the dominant UGC licensing and distribution business of the 2010s. The company scaled to roughly 175 employees across Los Angeles, New York, London, and New Delhi, operating brands like FailArmy, The Pet Collective, and People Are Awesome. In 2021, Jukin was acquired by Trusted Media Brands, the parent company of Reader's Digest.
After Jukin, Skogmo became CEO of travel media publisher 📝Lost iN, and in 2024 launched Voyager, a new UGC licensing division focused on travel content — his return to the category he helped create.
Recognition
Skogmo has been named to The Hollywood Reporter's Next-Gen 35 Under 35, Cynopsis's Digital It list, and Multichannel News's 40 Under 40, and was a 2019 EY Entrepreneur of the Year finalist for Greater Los Angeles.
I met Jonathan for the first time at his home when he hosted a 📝Founder's Table event.
