Mythos

A fire mind is a frame of mind native to the 📝Age of Fire — the consciousness of 📝separation, built on the belief in a discrete and 📝separate self.

The term belongs to a pairing in 📝Charles Eisenstein's 📝The Ascent of Humanity. Fire is the element of the civilization of separation: it converts, consumes, and controls, burning through stored wealth to liberate energy and impose order. A fire mind thinks the same way — it experiences itself as a bounded individual set against a world of separate things, and it meets that world with management and mastery.

Its counterpart is the 📝Water Mind, the frame of the coming 📝Age of Reunion. The shift between them is not about thinking better thoughts but about where the self is felt to end — and, as Eisenstein puts it, the point was never that we should not be selfish, only that we have misperceived the self.
