Sheryl Sandberg is an American technology executive and 🏷️#author who served as chief operating officer of 📝Facebook, later 📝Meta, from 2008 to 2022. Before that she was vice president of global online sales and operations at 📝Google, chief of staff to the US Treasury Secretary in the Clinton administration, a consultant at McKinsey, and an economist at the World Bank. She stepped down as COO in 2022 and left the board in 2024, remaining an advisor to the company.
Sandberg was recruited as Facebook's first COO in 2008, when 📝Mark Zuckerberg sought operational leadership for a company that had scaled far past its founding team. Her principal contribution was commercial: she built the targeted-advertising business that turned Facebook profitable, applying the model she had helped develop at Google.
