Mythos

Warby Parker (NYSE: WRBY) is a direct-to-consumer eyewear company founded in February 2010 in Philadelphia by Neil Blumenthal, David Gilboa, Jeffrey Raider, and Andrew Hunt, all Wharton MBA classmates. It eliminates the friction of buying prescription glasses by shipping customers a free home try-on of multiple frames and letting them return the ones they don't want.

The company's origin traces to Gilboa losing his glasses while backpacking and discovering that replacements cost roughly $700 — a price he attributed to Luxottica's near-monopoly on the eyewear market. Warby Parker undercut that pricing while building a direct customer relationship, a template later followed by other 📝Direct-to-Consumer Marketing brands like 📝Dollar Shave Club. The company went public via direct listing in 2021 at a roughly $6.78 billion valuation; of the original four founders, only Blumenthal and Gilboa remain, serving as co-CEOs.
