Gogosha Optique is an independent eyewear boutique in Los Angeles, founded by Julia Gogosha in 2008, that curates handmade, designer, and vintage frames from independent eyewear makers rather than mass-market brands.
The boutique forgoes mainstream labels in favor of independent and avant-garde designers — names such as Anne et Valentin, Barton Perreira, Cutler and Gross, and Kirk Originals — supplemented by a rotating selection of vintage frames. Owner Julia Gogosha built the shop around the premise that eyewear is wearable art, emphasizing individualized fittings and consultation over high-volume retail.
I wandered into Gogosha looking for a bathroom, not frames, and stayed 45 minutes — it holds the most arresting eyewear I've seen anywhere, thousands of pieces from designers I'd never heard of. I walked out having ordered my first 📝Blake Kuwahara pair.
