Mythos

Jason Citron is the co-founder of 📝Discord, serving as CEO from the company's founding in 2015 through April 28, 2025 — a 13-year run building the platform from a gaming voice chat tool to a 200M+ MAU communication platform. He transitioned to an advisor role and remained on the board when 📝Humam Sakhnini was appointed CEO.

Before Discord, Citron founded OpenFeint, a mobile gaming social network that was acquired by GREE in 2011 for $104M. He co-founded Discord with Stanislav Vishnevskiy (CTO, still active) after their previous game studio, Hammer & Chisel, pivoted from game development to the communication tool that would become Discord.

Citron's departure is widely interpreted as a pre-IPO transition — replacing a founder-CEO with an experienced public-company operator (Sakhnini) to manage the listing process. Discord filed confidentially for an IPO in January 2026 with Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan. Citron previously rejected a $10-12B acquisition offer from Microsoft, betting on Discord's independent future.
