Mythos

RentJuice was a subscription software service—sold by phone and live online webinars—that let real estate professionals like brokers and agents market and manage rental listings, communicate with clients, and complete transaction paperwork such as tenant applications, credit screening, and lease documents, all through a single web-based interface. It was founded in 2008 by 📝David Vivero while he was a student at Harvard Business School.

The platform packaged a suite of marketing and productivity tools for rental professionals: a customer relationship management system for managing leads and relationships, rental listings software with syndication across the web, consumer credit screening, and a secure online and mobile path for renters to submit applications. Its iOS app let rental agents reach their database on the go, update property photos instantly, and connect with prospective tenants. In June 2012, Zillow acquired RentJuice for roughly $40 million to expand its professional services in the rental marketplace.

I was a founding board member of RentJuice. David first presented it to me across the 📝Linden Lab office on Battery Street, during the 📝Second Life case discussion in Thomas Eisenmann's Entrepreneurial Management class at HBS. Watching it go from a classroom pitch to a Zillow exit is one of my favorite stories.
