don Miguel Ruiz is a Mexican author and spiritual teacher known for popularizing the Toltec wisdom tradition for a modern audience. He is best known for The Four Agreements, a 1997 book that became a long-running New York Times bestseller and has sold millions of copies worldwide in dozens of languages.
Ruiz was born in rural Mexico, the youngest of thirteen children, to a family that practiced traditional Toltec healing. He trained as a physician and practiced as a surgeon before a car accident in the early 1970s prompted a return to the spiritual traditions of his ancestors. He went on to write several books drawn from Toltec teachings, including The Mastery of Love, The Voice of Knowledge, and The Fifth Agreement, the last co-written with his son don José Ruiz. His work centers on freeing people from limiting beliefs and self-judgment.
Don Miguel Ruiz wrote the foreword to my book 📝All the Time in the World.
