Minds.com is an open-source social network built around free-speech principles and user control over content and reach. It positions itself as a transparent alternative to mainstream platforms, with open-source code, anonymous registration, and user-tunable feed algorithms. 🏷️#company
Minds frames itself against centralized moderation, arguing that de-platforming and censorship can entrench rather than reduce radicalization. 📝Bill Ottman is its CEO. The platform was a partner and subject in 📝CulturePulse's "The Censorship Effect" research, which used simulation to study how social-media censorship influences radicalization — work that grew out of Justin's collaboration with Minds on deradicalization without de-platforming.
Bill and I go back to our undergrad years at the 📝University of Vermont, where we took several religion classes together. When he reached out after reading our censorship research, it turned into one of the more meaningful partnerships I've had — a platform willing to test the idea that you can address extremism without silencing people.
