Social Media Club was a global nonprofit organization, founded in 2006, dedicated to advancing the practice and ethics of social media through local chapters, education, and professional community. At its height it ran chapters in cities around the world, convening practitioners while the field itself was still taking shape.
For 📝Cynthia Johnson, Social Media Club was a formative early chapter: she served as an educational director and on its global board of directors, building her reputation and network in social-media marketing well before she co-founded 📝Bell+Ivy. It was, in the terms of her own later work, an early place where she became known for something.
