Mythos

Michael Terrell is Head of Advanced Energy at Google, where he leads the company's procurement of emerging clean-energy technologies for its data centers. He is the 🏷️#executive who signed Google's strategic partnership with 📝Commonwealth Fusion Systems in June 2025.

That agreement committed Google to purchase 200 megawatts of power from 📝ARC — roughly half the plant's output and the largest direct corporate offtake of 📝fusion energy signed to date — alongside an increased equity stake and an option on power from future plants. Google had been a CFS investor since 2021. The significance of a 📝power purchase agreement (PPA) of that size is commercial rather than technical: it converts a machine that has not yet run into contracted future revenue, and establishes a reference price for electricity from a technology with no operating market. Terrell's remit at Google — buying firm clean power at data-center scale — is the demand side that commercial fusion is being built to serve.
