Myofascial Release is a hands-on method that uses sustained, gentle pressure to help fascia soften and glide.
Fascia is the connective-tissue web that surrounds muscle, bone, nerve, and organ as one continuous structure. Injury, surgery, inflammation, and long-held posture can leave it less pliable, so motion feels bound or referred far from the sore spot. The technique engages that barrier with slow pressure or stretch and waits — often minutes, not seconds — for the tissue to yield. Too much force and the system guards; too little and the barrier is never met.
Unlike kneading strokes that move quickly along a muscle, this work stays with a restriction until it changes. Clients often remain partly clothed so the practitioner can follow lines of pull without lotion, which would reduce grip. Sensation may include spreading warmth, a slow lengthening, or emotional charge as bracing lets go — sometimes an 📝Emotional Release; none of that is a medical diagnosis.
Myofascial work is used when the complaint is less a single knot than a pattern of limited glide. It pairs naturally with 📝Somatic Practice and 📝Breathwork so that newly available tissue has a way to be used.
