Travell and Simons are the physicians — Janet Travell and David Simons — whose referral maps underlie modern 📝trigger point work.
Their texts described taut bands, nodules that refer, and the characteristic zones of sensation that still guide 📝Trigger Point Therapy. This practice uses those maps as a working picture. It does not do their needling, spray-and-stretch, or medical injection protocols, and it does not claim their authority as a license. The maps are a lens for where to put the hands, not a diagnosis of a disease named in their volumes.
Clients may never hear the names. Session language can stay with "the point" and "where it sends." When the names appear, they name a source of maps, not a guarantee that a hold will match a textbook drawing.
Unexplained pain that does not fit a map is a referral.
