The @MythOS Style Guide is the canonical reference for how memos should be formatted and structured.
Structure
Memos use one of two formats: Encyclopedia-style (for entities, concepts, tools):
# Objective— factual description (hidden header)# Subjective— personal context and perspective (hidden header)# Contexts— tags and root memo links Blog/essay-style (for posts, opinion pieces, analyses):- Content starts directly with
##section headers — no# Postheader. Do not use# Post. # Contexts— tags and root memo links
Header Visibility
# Objective,# Subjective, and# Contextsheaders are always hidden — they are structural markers, not visible text. Only##subheadings and below should be visible to readers.- Do not use
# Postas a header. Blog/essay memos should begin directly with their first##section heading.
Formatting Rules
- No extra line breaks between paragraphs or sections — keep content tight. Single newline between paragraphs, no double spacing.
- 100-300 words for standard memos — the most read resources are @Cogent. Blog posts and essays may be longer.
- 3-5 links — quantity of @@Mentions to other resources and @#Tags to topics will vary based on a resource's purpose. Aim for having 3-5 ways for the reader to explore further.
- The first half of an encyclopedia memo should be an objective description similar to those you might find at the beginning of a @Wikipedia article (e.g. who or what someone is). The second half should be your subjective context as it regards that resource (e.g. how and why you know them).
Methods
- Use @Smmry to summarize @Wikipedia entries
- Look for "press kits" rather than re-writing sales pages objectively
