Collaboration is @MythOS's system for co-creating within individual @memos. Rather than sharing an entire library or granting blanket edit access, collaboration happens at the memo level — an owner invites specific people to contribute to a specific memo. Each collaborator gets their own content section, separate from the creator's, preserving authorial clarity while enabling shared context. Inviting a collaborator also establishes a contact relationship between both parties, which powers the broader permission system for audience-gated content.

How It Works

• A memo owner invites collaborators by username or email directly from the memo
• Each memo maintains two distinct content areas: creator content and collaborator content
• Both sections are versioned independently — edits to one don't conflict with the other
• The owner controls whether collaborator names are visible publicly on the memo
• Inviting someone creates a bidirectional contact record, making them visible on the Contacts page

Contacts & Permissions

Every collaborator invitation creates a two-way contact relationship. Contacts can be assigned permission tags (e.g., close-friend, collaborator) that unlock audience-gated memos. A memo tagged #for-close-friend is only visible to contacts with the close-friend permission tag. This system bridges collaboration and access control — the people you create with are also the people you can selectively share with.

Invite by Email

When an owner invites someone by email who doesn't yet have a MythOS account, the system creates a placeholder account and sends an invitation. Once the recipient signs up, the placeholder is resolved and the collaboration and contact relationship activate.

Blocking

Either party can block the other from the Contacts page. A blocked contact cannot be invited as a collaborator on any future memos. Blocking is one-directional — it affects your side of the relationship without altering the other person's contacts.
