Lucas Fernandez is a #venture investor and startup advisor based in San Diego, CA. He currently supports the early-stage startups at Simplexity Venture Studio—a co-founding venture fund based in San Diego, CA, and leads Business Development for its services business. Prior to his current role, he was a PE Senior Analyst at StepStone Group (a $50B+ PE firm) where he worked with the VC and Growth Equity teams to make LP, secondary and direct tech investments on behalf of sovereign wealth funds, family offices, Public Pensions, Foundations, and Endowments. Today, he enjoys working with ambitious founders to bridge them to the capital, talent, and resources they need to win.

Small town kid, thought I’d never go anywhere. Hung around the wrong people, small minded, but found a way out as I had a bigger vision for my life.

Moved to San Diego to get my undergrad at SDSU. Had my first kid when I was 21 (2013).

Graduated in 2015 with a finance degree.

Jumped right into private equity and venture investing as an LP/GP. Saw the $ behind the $ as an allocator.

Had my second kid in 2017.

Currently an investor at a small venture studio fund in San Diego. Co-creating and building companies alongside smart people is what I love doing.\
