Mythos

The Human Design System is a self-knowledge framework that synthesizes elements of astrology, the Hindu chakra system, the I Ching, Kabbalah, and quantum physics, mapping a person's energetic blueprint from their exact birth time, date, and location.

The system was channeled in 1987 by Alan Krakower — known by his adopted name Ra Uru Hu — and is documented and licensed through his Jovian Archive publishing arm. Its primary artifact is the BodyGraph: a nine-centered chart inherited in part from chakra anatomy, overlaid with defined and undefined gates and channels and indexed against the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching. From this chart it derives a person's Type (Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, or Reflector), Strategy (how they are designed to engage with the world), and Authority (how they are designed to make decisions).

Proponents frame it as a decision-making tool grounded in personal mechanics rather than belief, while academic critics group it with astrology and other esoteric typologies as a non-falsifiable system without empirical support. It has gained particular traction in coaching, somatic, and entrepreneurial communities as a self-knowledge modality.
