On Being is a long-form public-radio and podcast project hosted by Krista Tippett, focused on conversations exploring meaning, spirituality, philosophy, and the ethical and emotional textures of contemporary life.
The show began on Minnesota Public Radio in 2003 as Speaking of Faith, was renamed On Being in 2010, and spun out of the public-radio system in 2014 into an independent nonprofit, The On Being Project. In addition to the flagship weekly conversation, the organization has built out the Civil Conversations Project, the Poetry Unbound podcast, the On Being newsletter, and a Wisdom App; Tippett herself received the 2014 National Humanities Medal for her work on the show. The catalog of interviews now spans figures including Mary Oliver, John O'Donohue, Brené Brown, Mary Catherine Bateson, and Pádraig Ó Tuama.
