Mythos

InterPop Block Party was a digital comic con hosted on July 17, 2021 by 📝Tocqueville Group (TQ) in co-creation with 📝One Studio around the debut of Emergents, an 📝InterPop comic universe. [1]

The Emergents comic series is the first of InterPop's digitally native comics and enables digital ownership with 📝Non-Fungible Token (NFT) technology powered by 📝Tezos. Ownership of the NFTs comes with the ability to engage the content and have a hand in directing the story’s outcome. [2]

The daylong convention featured renowned speakers — known for their work in the Marvel and DC universes — who discussed the basics and benefits of buying NFTs as well as opportunities NFTs are providing to artists, the evolution of comics, and what NFTs can mean for the future of comics.

The event was built and hosted across five, interconnected 📝Topia worlds. Created as a part of the comic itself, the worlds were filled with art from the comic universe, comical audio clips that guided guests through the experience, interactive games guests could experience together, and more.

Guests were first welcomed in the (1) event lobby where they could collect their swag bag and get basic instructions on how to move in-world. From the lobby, guests then entered the (2) homeworld which functioned as a place for attendees to interact with the contents of the comic universe and other guests. 📝Portals led to (3) Hall H which hosted the panels, (4) Artist Alley which hosted the artists' booths, and the (5) NFT Forest which allowed guests to climb inside the art of the comic.

TQ — an independent entity dedicated to growing, strengthening, and addressing the needs of the Tezos ecosystem — approached One Studio through Topia's network of 📝Certified Partner (Topia)s to create the first-of-its-kind digital event showcasing the NFTs aren't scary by promoting Interpop's NFT powered comic and consensus-driven story on the Tezos chain. [3] The project was led by 📝Brian Swichkow, with art direction by 📝James Cadotte, and world-building by 📝Bryan Aldea.

Worlds

  • topia.io/mainstreet (welcome tent) — The onboarding world where attendees were taught how to use Topia, create their crypto wallets, and collect their NFT swag bag before portaling into the main space. This world also hosted the event's closing pool party.
  • topia.io/interpop (event venue) — The main space for networking and interaction. Attendees could explore the space, interact with the various objects, and portal into other worlds.
  • topia.io/hallh (main stage) — Host of the keynotes and panels. Attendees were muted as they approach the stage and speakers were put in 📝Broadcast, both automatically. Podium mics were placed where an attendee could ask a question during Q&A sessions.
  • topia.io/nftforest (comic universe) — An exploration inside the comic itself, the Emergents universe. This world featured a walkable exploration of the comic scenes, variant covers, and trading cards — each made clickable for attendees to purchase and claim. This space also hosted to the meet and greet sessions with the various variant cover artists.
  • topia.io/artistsalley (artist marketplace) — The creator marketplace where artists' were given booths to sell their artwork. Each booth was connected to their marketplace in MinterPop. Emergents characters were scattered throughout the world with audio recordings of their descriptions and links to purchase their individual variant covers.
