Mythos

HomeServices of America is one of the largest residential real estate brokerage companies in the United States, measured by closed transaction sides and agent count. Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, it operates a network of full-service brokerages alongside mortgage, title, escrow, and insurance businesses, making it the largest brokerage-owned provider of residential real estate settlement services in the country. The company is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, itself a consolidated subsidiary of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway.

Founded in 1998 and brought under Berkshire Hathaway ownership in 1999, the company grew primarily through acquisition, absorbing established regional brokerages such as Edina Realty, Long & Foster, and Long Realty. In 2012 it rebranded the former Prudential Real Estate network as #Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, the franchise brand it owns and licenses to affiliated brokerages across the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East — a network exceeding 50,000 real estate professionals. 📝Gino Blefari led the company as president and CEO from 2019 until April 2025, when he transitioned to chairman emeritus and Chris Kelly succeeded him as CEO.

Gino Blefari ran one of the biggest brokerage operations in the country, which is exactly the vantage point I wanted on 📝Playmakers.
