Native community posts let members write directly inside a 📝Communities feed — text, image, link, and poll posts composed in the community itself, alongside the memos contributed from creator libraries.
How It Works
Every community has one Create button opening one dialog, with a tab per post kind: Memo, Text, Image, Link, and Poll. Contributing a memo is open to every member on every plan. The four native kinds require a paid plan — 📝Scribe, 📝Scholar, or 📝Oracle — and membership in that community. The asymmetry is deliberate: submitting a memo means having authored one in your library first, which is its own quality bar, while a native post is a bare compose box. Native posts appear in the feed immediately — there is no review queue for them — and stewards or moderators can remove a post that breaks the community's rules, though they can never rewrite one.
Key Capabilities
- Text posts — a title plus a body with inline formatting (bold, italic, strikethrough, code, links) and memo mentions
- Image posts — an uploaded image with an optional caption; the caption can carry memo mentions
- Link posts — a URL with an automatic preview card; if the preview cannot be fetched, the post still publishes and the card falls back to your title and the destination's hostname
- Polls — up to several options, one answer per person; you can change your answer while the poll is open
- Editing a published text post — author-only, with a reader-visible marker
- Author stats strip — viewers, votes, comments, and per-kind counters, shown only to the post's own author
Editing a Published Text Post
Only the author can edit a text post — a steward may delete a post but never rewrite someone else's words. After an edit, readers see a quiet (Edited) beside the post's age everywhere the post appears — the community feed, the aggregated feed, and the post page — with the exact time on hover. The marker means the author changed the words; votes, moderation, and other activity never trigger it. The post's URL deliberately keeps the address it was published under, even when the title changes, so a link that was shared never breaks. Editing also re-asks the hidden-memo mention question rather than inheriting the answer given at submission — a memo mentioned in the original body may have changed visibility since.
Mentions in Posts
A text post's body and an image post's caption can mention memos, and each mention is checked against the mentioned memo's own visibility: public and unlisted memos can be mentioned freely, a hidden memo asks for your explicit confirmation before publishing, and a private memo can never be mentioned in a post. Titles, image alt text, and poll options never carry mentions. 📝Comments carry mentions on every post kind.
FAQ
- Why does the stats strip say "Viewers" instead of "Views"? Because it counts people, not page loads — one per person, however often they return. That is the opposite of what "views" means on your memo analytics page, where every page load counts, so the two surfaces use two different words on purpose.
- Why don't I see the Text, Image, Link, or Poll tabs? Native posting requires a paid plan and membership in the community. Members on the free plan can still contribute memos.
- Can a steward edit my post? No. Stewards and moderators can remove a post; only its author can change its words.
- Does editing a post break links to it? No. The URL keeps the address the post was published under, even if you change the title.
