The Center for Mind and Culture (CMAC) is a Boston-based nonprofit research 🏷️#institute that applies computational modeling, simulation, and cognitive science to real-world social problems. Its researchers work across disciplines to tackle issues such as the social integration of immigrants and refugees, religious radicalization, rising suicide rates, child trafficking, and the ethical risks of digital data and algorithms.
CMAC gathers experts from neuroscience, sociology, biochemistry, public health, engineering, and philosophy into problem-focused teams that combine computational models, data analytics, historical interpretation, and conceptual analysis to produce practical answers to the challenges of modern society. Justin Lane held a postdoctoral fellowship in modeling and simulation associated with the Center, building computational models of religious and ethnic groups.
As a Postdoctoral Fellow in Modeling and Simulation, I designed and delivered a suite of computational models of religious and ethnic groups, focused on stability, violence, and growth. I worked closely with programmers and subject-matter experts to meet every requirement and deliverable on a multi-million-dollar project.
