NORCE Center for Modeling Social Systems is a 🏷️#research-center based in Kristiansand, in the Agder region of Norway, associated with the NORCE Norwegian Research Centre and the University of Agder. It applies computational modeling and simulation to social systems, building artificial societies to analyze, simulate, and anticipate the conditions under which psychological and societal transformations occur.
The center's work spans multi-agent simulation, social complexity, and the modeling of belief, conflict, and cultural dynamics in service of policy-relevant questions. It was founded by 📝F. LeRon Shults, who serves as its scientific director. Justin Lane is a Research Fellow there, contributing to its computational and simulation research.
NORCE CMSS is where I do the deep simulation science that grounds my applied work. Building artificial societies here keeps me close to the methodological frontier of computational social modeling.
