Metochi Group is a collaborative network of researchers, scientists, academics, and entrepreneurs working to foster links between technological innovation and critical geo-political issues. It is not a corporate entity but a freely bound group with no fixed membership list, comprising those who have attended its meetings in conjunction with its projects. The group takes its name from The Metochi Center on the island of Lesbos, Greece — a place of learning and reflection for nearly 500 years, originally founded as a Greek Orthodox monastery outside the village of Kalloni. The first meeting was held in 2018, and meetings have typically been held annually since. This is a research 🏷️#network.
The group's stated activities include proposing policies to mitigate socio-cultural and geo-political issues, developing large-scale research projects funded through philanthropy, government and university funding, and corporate partnerships, and publishing solutions in peer-reviewed journals, books, and edited volumes. Its technological focus centers on 📝Digital Twin and 📝Multi-Agent AI (MAAI) methods applied to the policy space, with past projects spanning migration, the computational study of religion, economics and smart-city research, and demographic shifts in Europe. Dr. Justin Lane is among the group's founding members, alongside 📝F. LeRon Shults, Dr. Wesley Wildman, Dr. Saikou Diallo, Dr. Ivan Puga-Gonzalez, and Dr. Ross Gore.
