Diaphragmatic breathing is breathing that lets the belly and lower ribs expand on the inhale instead of the chest and shoulders lifting.
The inhale drops the diaphragm; the exhale lets it rise. In 📝Breathwork this is the default pattern for regulation — slower, lower, quieter than a chest breath. It is a method, not a diagnosis of "wrong breathing," and not a claim to treat a lung or anxiety disorder. Some days the chest will still lift; the aim is more options, not a perfect belly on every cycle.
Clients feel a softer middle and less work in the neck. If the breath brings dizziness, tingling, or panic, the dose is too big or too fast — smaller and through the nose. Chest pain or unexplained shortness of breath is a referral.
Home practice is a few minutes, not a forced hour.
