Mythos

Downshift is the settling toward the calmer side of the nervous system that a longer exhale tends to produce.

In 📝Breathwork 📝exhale emphasis, a sigh, or 📝coherent breathing are the usual tools. The person feels less charge, a slower heart, a face that drops. That is a session effect, not a diagnosis of autonomic disease, not a polyvagal proof, and not a guarantee. If the downshift becomes shutdown — fog, collapse, numbness — the dose was too much; open the eyes, sit up, shorter cycles.

Clients feel coming down after a hold or a hard day. Chest pain, persistent dizziness, or unexplained shortness of breath is a referral.
