Wai khru is the brief opening acknowledgment of teachers that some practitioners begin with.
A short bow or pause before the first contact. In 📝Thai Bodywork it is optional, traditional, and not a performance for the receiver. It does not claim to bless the session as a medical event, and it is not required in a session note. When it appears, it honors the lineage the strokes come from.
Clients may not notice it. The ethic still shows in the pace and the 📝stretch threshold, with or without the gesture.
Forcing a ritual the practitioner does not hold is worse than skipping it.
