Mythos

Industry Crisis Monitor is an end-to-end system that detects 📝Public Relations crises across an entire industry, validates the affected companies against a target profile, and surfaces them as actionable opportunities in our dashboard, 📝SymbiotiClaw.

The concept originated when a partner of 📝One Inc with deep access to the food, 📝Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), and restaurant industries wanted to leverage their relationships through a 📝joint venture — connecting with companies at a moment when they were experiencing a brand crisis. We realized the same approach could be applied to any industry where we had a partner with access, so we built the system to be industry-agnostic from the start.

Rather than maintaining a list of companies to watch, the pipeline monitors industry-wide news for negative sentiment and extracts the affected companies from the coverage itself. It runs every six hours against GDELT's global news corpus (150,000+ sources, free), executing targeted queries across multiple crisis vectors, filtering for negative tone, and identifying companies through a three-tier entity extraction: a curated brand-to-parent-company mapping, a pattern-matching heuristic for unlisted companies, and a body-text analysis pass.

Flagged entities are validated against revenue thresholds using Wikidata and SEC EDGAR, then passed through an 📝Large Language Model (LLM) gate that distinguishes genuine reputation crises from routine industry noise. Validated crises flow into SymbioticLaw's Monitoring page, where each record carries a summary, severity rating, article coverage with source links, and a status lifecycle (new → investigating → outreach sent → converted/dismissed). Converting a crisis into a deal is a single click — the system pre-fills the deal with crisis context and auto-links the CRM company record.

Executive identification integrates with 📝Clay, which receives a company domain and target job titles via 📝webhook, performs verified people search and 📝LinkedIn enrichment, and returns the results to SymbioticLaw where they appear on the crisis record with clickable profiles and one-click 📝Customer Relationship Management (CRM) import. The detection pipeline operates at zero marginal cost. Swapping in a new industry requires only updating the query templates and brand dictionary — the architecture (GDELT queries, entity extraction, revenue validation, SymbioticLaw integration, Clay enrichment) remains the same.
