Mythos

Alan Patricof is a pioneering American #venture-capitalist known for founding Apax Partners and later @Greycroft, two firms that have significantly shaped early-stage investing. Born in 1934, he began his career in finance before shifting focus to venture capital, identifying the sector’s potential in its infancy. Apax Partners, launched in the 1970s, evolved into one of the world’s largest private equity firms. In 2006, Patricof pivoted again to co-found Greycroft, a venture firm focused on early-stage tech startups, reflecting his belief in the cyclical renewal of innovation and generational leadership. Beyond finance, he has held public policy roles, including appointments to President @Barack Obama’s Global Development Council and the Millennium Challenge Corporation. As of his 90s, Patricof remains active in the startup ecosystem and advocates for increased engagement by older adults in entrepreneurship, challenging societal assumptions about aging and productivity.
