Mythos

Gödel, Escher, Bach (GEB) is a #book by Douglas Hofstadter, first published in 1979, that explores deep connections between the works of logician Kurt Gödel, artist M.C. Escher, and composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Subtitled An Eternal Golden Braid, the book investigates how self-reference and formal rules allow systems to acquire meaning despite being made of meaningless elements. Hofstadter draws parallels between Gödel’s incompleteness theorems, Escher’s paradoxical visual illusions, and Bach’s recursive musical structures to illustrate how consciousness might arise from complex systems. Blending mathematics, art, music, and philosophy, the book has been influential in cognitive science, computer science, and the study of @Artificial Intelligence (AI). GEB was re-recommended to me by @Andrew Goldenhersh and became a potent catalyst for my @Recursive Mythic Engine Generator (workflow).
