Automations is a lifecycle email sequencing feature built into 📝Resend that lets developers trigger, personalize, and monitor multi-step email campaigns directly from application events.
Launched April 13, 2026, Automations extends Resend's existing send/receive email infrastructure into full orchestration. Every automation starts with a custom-defined event — user signed up, order placed, trial expired — that fires from the application via the Resend SDK or API. Each event can carry an optional schema, ensuring agents and developers always know what data is available at each step.
Sequences are built through a drag-and-drop visual editor or by describing intent in plain language for the AI builder to construct. Steps support three control mechanisms: time delays (hold for a set duration), wait-for-event (advance on a condition), and conditional branching (equals, contains, greater than, and/or logic). Email steps reference existing Resend Templates, keeping copy consistent and editable without code changes.
The observability layer shows every automation run in real time — in progress, completed, or failed — with programmatic access via the List Automation Runs API endpoint. The full feature set is available through the dashboard, API, SDKs, MCP Server, and CLI. Free tier includes 10,000 automation runs; paid tiers scale from there.
I see Automations as the missing layer between Resend's excellent transactional foundation and a full lifecycle stack. For One Inc's email flows — including MythOS onboarding and cohort sequences — this is a natural fit worth integrating before reaching for more complex tools.
