The 📝Xpill process has facilitated breakthroughs in 10 minutes. While there is a lot of power in placing a pill in front of someone, these techniques will still work without a pill, with your own pill, or with any kind of threshold crossing activity.
When we first started Xpill activations, they were over an hour long. As we did hundreds of them we discovered the techniques that zero in on the truth. Here they are...
1. Keep eye contact, the entire time
When people look away they are going into a trance - sometimes from the past and sometimes the fantasies of the future. Or they are “looking” for answers when they are really within. There’s a very simple hack to this.Ask the person to keep direct eye contact. If they look away (and they will), then gently remind them to come back. Don’t be too strict about it as you don’t want to create anxiety. It will be awkward at first for them because most people are not used to that much eye contact. And they may even find it’s hard to think. But stay with it because that’s where the truth can emerge. Have you heard the expression, “Look me in the eye when you say that.” It will help you to notice what’s in #3.
2. Focus on the real feelings and sensations
The logical brain can run you in circles. And it’s the voice that your client has heard for a long time. The voice they’re usually not hearing as well is the voice of the body. When they’re talking about what they want or what frustrates them, ask them what they’re feeling. They may be feeling nervous, excited, angry, sad.Anything.
- Ask them to feel it in the body, to see if they can locate it.They may say it’s a pain or a tightness, or a lightness.
- Whatever it is, just have them breathe into it.And have them just be with it, not trying to change it.
- After a few moments ask them if they feel any kind of shift, and that it’s okay if they don’t.Often just being aware of and acknowledging how they really feel will be transformational in itself (or at least clear that space for the deeper work). We often do things to not feel whatever emotions are coming up, so this process frees them. They feel lighter and more open to what’s next.
3. Notice and Bring Attention to Physical Cues
The body doesn’t lie. We can manipulate our words but the body may tell a different story. As someone is talking notice the discrepancies. Are they saying they want one thing but their face tells a different story?Do they touch their face, their hair or their neck as they speak? If so, the body is either disagreeing or not feeling comfortable with what the mouth is saying. Do they fidget? Point all of these out, and then go one of two directions.
- See if they can be very still, and say the words to see how they feel.
- Have them keep doing it, but notice why they are doing it. For example, if they’re scratching their head, say, “Keep scratching your head. What does that give you? What are you feeling as you do it?”
4. Hold Space
The main activity of the Xpill activation is holding space. That means:
- Being fully present.
- Listening.
- Asking questions that show a combination of curiosity and appreciation.
This is different from empathy or sympathy. It actually feels really good and peaceful. Even if you’re talking about a very difficult topic. We’ve noticed the reason for this is that they’re finally free to tell the truth and to feel like they’re accepted (not judged), and that feels like such a weight off that this can actually be alight process for heavy topics.
5. Capture the Moment of Activation
We find that there’s a moment when the pill is “activated.” Of course, there’s nothing in the pill so it’s really the person who is activated. That is the moment when the person feels alive, or scared, or lit up, or turned on. It may feel “positive” in that it’s excited, or it may feel “negative” in that it feels really scary or edgy. Either way, there is a LOT of sensation, and that’s when it’s time to declare the commitment or action step. Don’t waste that moment! Don’t talk over it. Don’t let them pass it up!
