Mythos

Berlin is a major cultural and political hub located in northeastern Germany. It serves as the capital and largest 🏷️#city of the country, with a population exceeding 3.5 million people. As a city rich in history, Berlin has witnessed significant events, including the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall, which divided the city during the Cold War. Known for its diverse architecture, vibrant arts scene, and historical landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag building, Berlin is also a center for technology, innovation, and startup culture. The city’s robust public transportation system and its key role in European and global politics further define its global standing. Berlin’s history of division and reunification, particularly after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, gave rise to a unique cultural identity characterized by underground art scenes, electronic music, and nonconformist lifestyles, despite the challenges posed by mass tourism and gentrification in recent decades.

I went to Berlin in the spring of 2022 and enjoyed the energy of the city thoroughly. I resonated deeply with the city's identity of openness, DIY creativity, and countercultural experimentation while also feeling inner conflict by being a part of the tourism that has challenged it.
