The 📝Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) recognizes 10 specific personality disorders, which are grouped into three clusters
📝Cluster A (Odd or Eccentric)
- Paranoid Personality Disorder
- Schizoid Personality Disorder
- Schizotypal Personality Disorder
📝Cluster B (Dramatic, Emotional, or Erratic)
- 📝Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD)
- 📝Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
- 📝Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD)
- 📝Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)
📝Cluster C (Anxious or Fearful)
- Avoidant Personality Disorder
- Dependent Personality Disorder
- Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder
In addition to these 10, the DSM-5 also provides categories for "other specified" and "unspecified" personality disorders for cases that do not fit neatly into one of the ten types but still demonstrate significant personality pathology. However, the official count of named personality disorders in the DSM-5 remains at ten.
