Elgato is an audiovisual hardware and software brand founded in 1999 that builds equipment for content creators — game and camera capture devices, webcams, studio lighting, microphones and mixers, teleprompters, green screens, and desk mounts. It operates from offices in Germany and California and distributes to more than seventy-five countries.
Elgato built its early reputation on TV-tuner and HDMI game-capture hardware, then found its defining product in the 📝Stream Deck, a grid of customizable LCD keys first released in 2017 that turned a capture-card vendor into the default control surface for live streaming and, later, for general desktop automation. Corsair Gaming acquired Elgato's gaming and content-creation division in 2018 and has run it as a standalone creator brand alongside its own PC-component lines; the company's former smart-home accessories spun off separately under Eve Systems. Its competition comes from broadcast and creator-hardware makers including Blackmagic Design, AVerMedia, and Logitech's Blue and Streamlabs lines.
