Mythos

The Open-Source Global VC Ranking is an editor-free leaderboard created by 📝Graph One that evaluates over 9,000 📝venture capital firms worldwide. Unlike traditional rankings that often rely on surveys or editorial weighting, this system measures selection power based on a co-investment network graph. It applies Personalized 📝PageRank to the investor–company co-investment network, normalizing results to prevent firms from being rewarded purely for higher check volume. The methodology and code are openly published on 📝GitHub, making the system reproducible and transparent. Rankings are updated monthly at the firm level, allowing investors and founders to track relative influence across the global landscape.

Through Graph.one, users can apply the ranking data to identify potential warm introductions, mapping relational pathways within the co-investment graph. The open-source nature of the project allows for community engagement, with options to submit corrections, claim firm profiles, or contact the maintainers for clarification. By focusing on network signals rather than reported activity, the Open-Source Global VC Ranking provides a data-driven alternative to conventional editorial lists.

📝Maciek Laskus, the founder of Graph One, first told me about this project when it was still a concept—explaining his concern that most VC rankings were skewed by editor bias. I appreciated his determination to build something more objective, and it was satisfying to see the idea evolve into a working system.
