Mythos

Hetzner is a German hosting and cloud-infrastructure company, founded in 1997, known for dedicated servers, virtual private servers, and cloud compute priced well below the major hyperscalers.

Founded by Martin Hetzner and headquartered in Gunzenhausen, Bavaria, Hetzner Online GmbH has become one of Europe's largest internet hosting providers. Its catalog spans dedicated and managed servers, shared web hosting, virtual private servers, cloud compute, storage boxes, domains, and SSL certificates. By W3Techs' measure, Hetzner serves roughly 2.7% of all websites.

The company owns and operates data-center parks in Nuremberg and Falkenstein, Germany, and in Tuusula, Finland, and has extended its footprint with capacity in Singapore and the United States, including colocation in Ashburn, Virginia and Hillsboro, Oregon. Its reputation rests on a price-to-performance ratio that consistently undercuts ๐Ÿ“Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, making it a frequent default for indie developers, startups, and self-hosted infrastructure.

The trade-off is scope: Hetzner supplies raw compute, storage, and networking rather than the broad managed-service catalogs of the hyperscalers, so teams that adopt it generally accept more operational responsibility in exchange for substantially lower cost.
