Dane Maxwell is an American 🏷️#entrepreneur, 🏷️#musician, and educator best known as the founder of The Foundation — the long-running coaching program that taught aspiring entrepreneurs to build B2B SaaS companies by interviewing target customers about their unsolved pain points before writing any code.
Maxwell built The Foundation's curriculum around what he called the "Idea Extraction" method — structured customer-discovery interviews aimed at surfacing problems with existing budget rather than guessing at product ideas — and grew the program into one of the more visible early-2010s entrepreneur-education brands in the bootstrapped SaaS space. He has since wound the Foundation down and shifted public-facing work toward music, plain-text writing, and the Start From Zero podcast and book of the same name, which compresses much of his earlier teaching into a more general "idea-to-revenue" framework for first-time founders.
