Mythos

Workplace (also referred to as Workplace from Meta) is an enterprise social-collaboration platform built by 📝Facebook, launched in October 2016, that brought the Facebook product surface — news feed, groups, chat, live video, and events — into the workplace as a paid enterprise communication and culture tool.

The product was positioned as a competitor to internal-comms suites like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Yammer, with a particular focus on large frontline-heavy organizations whose employees were already culturally fluent in the consumer Facebook UX. Customers included Walmart, Starbucks, Spotify, and Vodafone among other Fortune 500 deployments. In May 2024 Meta announced it would wind Workplace down, with the product entering a read-only state in 2025 and being fully retired by 2026, citing a strategic refocus on AI and the metaverse and recommending Workvivo (owned by Zoom) as a primary migration partner.
