Mythos

Rocket Yoga is a dynamic style of yoga that was developed in the 1980s by Larry Schultz, a student of Ashtanga Yoga founder K. Pattabhi Jois. It modifies traditional Ashtanga sequences to create a more accessible and playful approach while maintaining structure and discipline. Rocket Yoga integrates poses from the Primary, Intermediate, and Advanced series of Ashtanga, offering variations that accommodate different skill levels. The practice emphasizes strength, flexibility, and balance, often incorporating inversions and arm balances earlier than in traditional Ashtanga progressions. Its name is said to derive from Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, who remarked that the practice "gets you there faster." I practice rocket at @Shefa Yoga with @Yancy Schwartz twice a week, and have since early 2023.
