Chin started her performance training from a young age; beginning classical ballet at the age of three, and modeling professionally at the age of nine. After completing her BFA in Theatre Performance, she went on to work professionally in shows ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary dramas; performing internationally. Since 2014, Chin has developed a specialty for directing both large-scale and intimate immersive circus work highlighting her skill as a proficient aerialist. She has been touring with her self-produced aerial show “Draiku” and the immersive theatrical circus company Cirque du Nuit, which now has over 90 performers and creatives. Chin also performs as an underwater mermaid with the Circus Siren Pod—the largest touring mermaid troupe on the East Coast.
Amongst her creative work, Kaitlin specializes in the creation of non-verbal, high-spectacle fantasy characters; such as living statues, mechanical dolls, fairies, and aerial fantasy creatures. Her work as both a director and movement teacher focuses on creating unique interactions with patrons utilizing a creature-based movement style. Her statues, which have not only perfected the art of stillness, display feats of quiet strength as they create “impossible” weight-sharing tableaus. [1]
