Alex Krause is a research engineer holding a PhD in applied physics, currently working on depth-sensor technologies at πApple. His background is in photonics for advanced sensor systems, and he previously consulted at Exponent β a science and engineering consultancy β where he built expertise in lithium-ion batteries and hardware failure analysis. He has led multi-disciplinary teams and projects across the United States and internationally.
Alex's range stretches well beyond his core photonics work: in his spare time he designed, fabricated, and programmed a motion-reactive wearable LED suit, an intersection of his electronics, hardware, and creative-coding interests. He summarizes his own toolkit as photonics, batteries, team management, data analysis, hardware, LEDs, and quantum mechanics β a stack that lets him move cleanly between research-grade physics and product-grade engineering across both individual contributor and team leadership roles.
