Mythos

Information marketing, also called info marketing or info-product marketing, is the practice of monetizing personal expertise or experience by packaging it into sellable knowledge products — books, courses, training programs, paid newsletters, memberships, and live events.

The category traces through direct-response copywriting (Eugene Schwartz, Gary Halbert), through the late-twentieth-century guru economy (Dan Kennedy, Jay Abraham), and into the contemporary creator economy where SaaS-style tooling (Gumroad, Teachable, Kajabi, Substack) has lowered production overhead and shifted the bottleneck to audience and trust rather than fulfillment.

The defining mechanic across eras is the same: a creator with experience converts that experience into a packaged artifact, then markets that artifact directly to an audience built through content, list-building, or paid acquisition — capturing margin that would otherwise sit with a publisher, a school, or a platform.
