Kickbacks.ai is a service that turns the idle wait states of AI coding agents into a single sponsored status line, paying developers 50% of the resulting ad revenue.
Kickbacks.ai targets the loading spinner — the brief pauses while an agent such as 📝Claude Code or 📝Codex processes a request. Developers opt in by installing an extension, and during a genuine wait the status line names a sponsor for a five-second view without blocking or delaying the result. Half of every advertising dollar settles to the developer whose machine displayed the ad. It runs inside the VS Code and IDE extensions for both tools, and through their terminal CLIs.
On the advertiser side, Kickbacks.ai operates a live bidding queue. Each block buys 1,000 five-second impressions at a minimum bid of $1.00, clicks are billed at fifty times the impression rate, and higher bids move an ad up the queue for faster delivery. The model reframes the agentic wait state — which the project bills as "the most-watched line on Earth" — as programmatic advertising inventory.
