Objective
The One Penis Policy (OPP) is a restrictive agreement in non-monogamous relationships—most commonly involving a heterosexual male and bisexual female couple—where the woman is permitted to pursue sexual or romantic connections with other women, but not with other men. Within the community, this practice is frequently associated with Unicorn Hunting and is criticized for delegitimizing same-sex relationships by treating them as less threatening to the primary male partner's security than heterosexual ones.
Critics, including educators at Polyphilia, argue that the policy is often rooted in insecurity or transphobia, as it reduces gender to genital configuration and fails to address the underlying jealousy it aims to circumvent. While some couples adopt it as a transitional boundary, it is widely regarded as a hallmark of Couple Privilege that restricts the autonomy of the female partner while often allowing the male partner to date women without reciprocal limitations.
