Objective
In analytical psychology, the term unconscious refers to the domain of the psyche that lies outside consciousawareness and exerts influence on thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. According to Carl G. Jung, the unconscious divides into the personal unconscious—containing memories, forgotten experiences and repressed material tied to the individual—and the collective unconscious, a deeper layer of inherited psychic structures and archetypes shared by all humans. The integration of unconscious contents into consciousness is central to the process of individuation, enabling a person to achieve greater wholeness and self-realisation.
