Mythos

I'm often asked how I prioritize my time and focus.

Sometimes I'm asked this by fellow 📝Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)/ 📝AuDHD people.

Sometimes I'm asked by fellow (or aspiring) entrepreneurs and founders.

There is a composite of three things:

  • Prioritization — knowing what types of things are more/less important
  • Discernment — being able to identify which type things are when they surface
  • Self-Control — being able to tolerate discomfort and commit to undesired work for desired outcomes

Prioritization

I prioritize 📝sovereignty above all else. This means that in business I prioritize revenue over any other metric.

A frame for orienting towards sovereignty as a business is 📝Companies that Mimic Life and the 📝Six Lifelike Qualities outlined by its author, 📝Joseph Bragdon, are a framework for sustainable growth.

As he means to maintain alignment with the above while also managing a commercial organization composed of three distinct parts—Agency, Community, and Studio—I have found 📝My Sticky Wall to be the optimal mix of structure and fluidity.

After using it for years, I realized that it is a mix of the masculine structure of a Kanban and the feminine structure of Intuition. The wall exists on an X-Y axis, with the X-axis being time (future to present) and the Y-axis being frequency (play to work).

Discernment

Beneath the logical structuring of prioritization is the 📝discernment of facilitating such on a day-to-day basis. The framework that I most often use when discerning what projects to start, futures to build, partnerships to cultivate, etc. is📝RICE—A simple scoring mechanism looking at reach, impact, confidence, and effort.

Beyond that, I also have two 📝Xkcd comics that are printed and hanging on my wall as reminders of two truths...

Self-Control

Attunement to 📝self is a lifetime practice.
